ISADORA
No, it’s not about the legendary American, but still this “Isadora” has to do with movement and dance.
Isadora is a software designed by Mark Coniglio and which creates interactive visuals, sounds, and environments. with emphasis on real-time manipulation of digital video.
Regarding my experience with the software.
The tutorials by Mark Coniglio are very straight forward. It’s a software which , as dancer, I manage to assimilate quit easy without being scared by codes and technical terms. At the beginning I was not so much impressed and still I don’t know if in the future I will be interested to include it into my practice. I find the EyeCon -software for motion tracking- more interesting and challenging but also more complicated. However always depends the way you use the tools you have and the purpose of your creative practice. Of course I cannot say that I have seen “on stage” the possible outcome that I can have with Isadora software. What I found more interesting was the use of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) which can be used within the program to manipulate the sound and in general the idea several possibilities of interaction between mover and sound.
Useful elements were: keyboard/control watchers for sound manipulation, the live capture, the user actors that allows you to create your own actor from several Isadora actors etc.
As concern software limitations one it is that with the demo version you can’t save your output and the fact that you can use live sound to manipulate with (or at least I didn’t manage to find the way). ALso isn’t possible to manipulate in sound player mp3 players.
